71 Degrees North Returns

Extreme Arctic reality TV series 71 Degrees North is returning to put 10 more celebrities through their paces via a series of tough challenges under harsh weather conditions. Last time, we saw Hollyoaks actor Marcus Patrick pip tough guy Gavin Henson to the post at the last minute and clinch the winner’s title. It showed us that sometimes the tortoise can beat the hare. Errr…not that Marcus is in any way a tortoise.

So will this be the case for Series Two? Muscleman Rav Wilding is joined by Olympic athlete Amy Williams, gardener Charlie Dimmock, Lisa Maxwell, Sean Maguire, presenter Angellica Bell (so clearly filmed before she got pregnant??!), John Thomson, hairdresser Nicky Clarke, Brooke Kinsella and manband heart-throb Martin Kemp. Rumours have it one celebrity has already been injured and will be replaced by footie legend John Barnes.  In the presenting stakes, Kate Thornton not only gets dumped from Loose Women but also this (ouch) and is replaced by Sky Sports presenter Charlotte Jackson. Gethin Jones is also replaced, by funnyman Paddy McGuinness.

The new series is back in the autumn and this time the competitors will have to brave the punishing climate of Scandinavia to ultimately reach The North Cape – mainland Europe’s northern-most point. It’ll be interesting to see who has the willpower to survive this one.
