Girl Number 9 Exclusively Online
October 20th, 2009Once again, the internet is the place to be. James Moran (Doctor Who, Torchwood) has written a new drama that will be broadcast exclusively online. Girl Number 9 is a dark thriller that is being produced for transmission on a stand-alone website. The six five-minute episodes will air daily, beginning on October 30th at 9pm.

Joe Absolom (EastEnders, Doc Martin) stars as Vincent Boylan, a man suspected of brutally murdering seven girls and who is, judging by the trailer, a bit of a psycho! Fellow EastEnder Tracy-Ann Oberman heads up the detective team in charge of getting a confession out of the suspect, before it’s too late. The producers promise nail-biting cliffhangers with every episode, as Boylan has the investigators running around in circles with his sick mind games.
The production looks incredibly slick and I’m expecting a thoroughly gripping 30 minutes of drama, considering the calibre of acting talent. Make no mistake, this is not a low-budget effort for the web…in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if Girl Number 9 makes it to terrestrial TV eventually (probably on ITV judging by their support of it so far). In the lead up to its debut, you can follow the characters on Twitter, and the film has a Facebook page to compliment all the good stuff on its website. To whet your appetite, here’s the trailer. I wouldn’t want to pass Absolom in a dark alleyway, especially with those insane eyes:
