Queen Vic Loses Windsor

EastEnders royalty, Barbara Windsor MBE aka Peggy Mitchell, is leaving the Queen Vic for good next year. The Mitchell matriarch has run the pub since 1994, and been a key figure in the soap. Her portrayal of the straight-talking pub lady and loving mother to her rogue children has earned her many awards, including this year’s Lifetime Achievement honour at the British Soap Awards. No doubt it’ll be hard for the Mitchells to behave themselves without Peggy reining them in; you’ve got bad boy Phil constantly up to no-good, freeloader Sam awaiting trial and Ronnie just about teetering on the brink of sanity following Danielle’s death. Actress Babs Windsor said although she’ll miss being on set, she’s off to spend some more time with the ‘old man’ since “he’s not getting any younger”. Aww…
