ALL the Paralympics 2012 details!
What on earth will we do with ourselves now that the London 2012 Olympics are over? We wait out the agonising 16-days until the Paralympics, that’s what! But will we be able to enjoy the Paralympics in the same way we did the Olympics? The wall-to-wall, ad-free coverage from the Beeb was spread across 24 specialist, interactive channels – an unprecedented feat and an impossible benchmark for Channel 4 to follow. But the rival broadcaster is aiming to deliver, with its own schedule of interactive and live coverage.
The London Paralympics 2012 begins on August 29th. Jon Snow fronts the opening ceremony live on Channel 4. He will also be presenting the closing ceremony live on September 9th. During the 12-day games, coverage will begin at 7am every day, with live action on Channel 4 and More4. Additional streams will be available on three standard definition streams and three HD ones via the Sky, Virgin and Freesat platforms. Freeview will carry one additional stream, with Red Button coverage for Freeview HD customers.
The Channel 4 Paralympics website will stream all the above additional channels, plus daily highlights, medals tables and results. Gold medallist Jonathan Edwards and sports presenter Clare Balding are switching allegiance to present the C4 mid-morning and prime-time shows, respectively. Paralympian Ade Adepitan also joins the presenting team. Coverage will be available on-the-go via dedicated mobile apps, a YouTube channel and social media.
So it’s not over yet! Listings for all live steams and links to the results, medals etc is available on the TVGuide.co.uk Paralympic Games 2012 page. Let’s get behind Team GB once again and make these Paralympics just as successful as the Olympics were!
