Aussie X Factor Judges Set Example
Sitting on the judging panel of a reality show can be a real boost for the celebrity ego. The judges are the professionals, judging the amateurs. They are the accomplished ones, the benchmark. But too often, they are stuck behind a desk. Stuck on a pedestal. Their talent is taken for granted. So it made for a refreshing change when those down-to-earth Aussies took their X Factor judges off their pedestals for four minutes, and made them perform on stage.
The X Factor Australia judges performed a medley of their hits: Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian sang his hit ‘Who’s That Girl’, Rogue Traders’ and solo artist Natalie Bassingthwaighte (her off Neighbours) sang a solo track ‘Someday Soon’, Ronan Keating crooned ‘Lovin’ Each Day’ and Mel B finished the performance with the Spice Girls hit ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ It’s slightly cringe-worthy that Mel B only sang about one line of her hit but fair dues – the Spice Girls were never successful because of their vocal abilities:
