BBC Four Gets Slap
Australian drama The Slap is coming to BBC Four later in the year. The eight-part drama is an adaptation of an award-winning book by Christos Tsiolkas, and features a stellar cast that includes British actress Sophie Okonedo and Aussie star Melissa George.
The story centres around an incident in which a man slaps a child that is not his own, at a friend’s barbecue. The parents react by calling the police. The events that ensue dramatically affect the group of friends. From strained friendships to affairs, nobody could have predicted the repercussions of the slap. The series touches on everything from parenting and punishment, to life in a multicultural society and gender roles.
