Who Wants to be a Millionaire? quickens the pace
ITV1’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire? will be back with a few changes this series, which will make becoming a millionaire a quicker process. From now onwards, contestants will have a 15-second time limit to answer the £500 and £1,000 questions. After that, there’s a 30-second limit for each question up to £50,000. This should give more people a chance to get onto the hot seat. The ‘Fastest Fingers First’ round has also been scrapped so the show will begin with pre-selected contestants launching straight into the quiz. There will also be a new lifeline given to the lucky competitors who pass the £50,000 mark. They will be allowed to ‘Switch’ – i.e. swap their current question for another one if they wish. However, they take a gamble, as they will not be able to switch back to the original question afterwards. So the clock’s ticking and the new, faster-paced series will be on our screens before you can say ‘Final Answer’!
