Stacey's exit on EastEnders tops Xmas TV ratings

TVGuide.co.uk users were right when they predicted EastEnders would be the most dramatic soap on TV this Christmas. The ever-depressing Christmas Day episode was seen by an impressive 11million viewers, as opposed to the 9million who opted for Corrie.

Stacey Branning’s exit was sad but far-fetched to say the least. We saw two men fight over her as she fled from the police, after being outed as Archie Mitchell’s killer. Unbelievably, she managed to have an argument in the Square and dump poor old Ryan, all before the police showed up. She then boarded a plane without anyone stopping her?! Ah well, this is soap reality, folks.

Elsewhere, Doctor Who’s A Christmas Carol came second with 10.3million viewers. It was followed by Strictly Come Dancing’s Christmas Special, which got a surprising 9.4million viewers, closely followed by Coronation Street. Matt Lucas and David Walliams’ new show Come Fly with Me gained an impressive audience of 10million and Shrek the Third was the most-watched film with 7million fans. The figures once again match up with TVGuide.co.uk user predictions that the BBC would win the Christmas ratings battle.
