G*Mania: Insania

So this G*Mania group, what’s that all about then? Whose idea was it to put 10 fading reality TV stars together as a group and cart them off on tour to sing Glee hits?  G*Mania is total insania, if you ask me.

If you haven’t heard, the ‘ultimate reality TV supergroup’ are going on tour around the country to sing songs featured on E4’s Glee. They bill themselves as ’10 of the biggest stars from reality TV’. Oh really? So who then? Will Young? Leona Lewis? No, David Francis! Aaron Bayley! Kimberley Southwick! Wait, what do you mean you’ve never heard of them? They’re 10 OF THE BIGGEST STARS FROM REALITY TV!! Except, they’re really not.

The members of G*Mania are: Rikki Loney from 2009 X Factor, Stacey McClean from 2009 X Factor (and S Club Juniors), Shaun Smith from 2009 Britain’s Got Talent, Andy Scott-Lee from 2003 Pop Idol, Anthony Kavanah (he can make you feel good) from 2007 Grease is the Word, Kimberley Southwick from 2007 X Factor, Aaron Bayley from 2001 Pop Idol, Emma Soraya Beard from 2002 Popstars: The Rivals, plus David, Trevor and Chantelle Francis from 2008 Last Choir Standing.

Now, don’t get me wrong; I wish them all the best. It’s a tricky business. But why would you want to pay to see a group of people you barely remember, when the actual cast of Glee are touring the country around the same time? Plus, some of this lot were on TV *ten* years ago. We just don’t care about them anymore, sorry. To add further weight to my argument, listen to the cringeworthy rapping in their rendition of Kanye West’s Gold Digger. Awful. Pointless. Please never release a single:
