Nicole Finds X Factor in UK
She may have bombed in the US, but the UK is showing Nicole Scherzinger much love, as she joins Gary Barlow, Tulisa and Louis Walsh on The X Factor judging panel for 2012.
America wasn’t feeling Nicole Scherzinger on the inaugural series of The X Factor USA. She was recruited to look pretty on the panel, but was doomed from the start when she got allocated the Over 30s category. Then came the Rachel Crow fiasco, which ultimately led to the American public turning their back on the former Pussycat Doll. It came as no surprise when her name was not featured in the new judging line-up for the second series. Nicole’s X Factor career was now officially as dead as her solo career.
But the UK never doubted Nicole. She was a guest judge on the 2010 series of Simon Cowell’s talent show. During her stint, she convinced Simon to change the Over 25s category to Over 28s and discovered talent such as One Direction. She did well! And it hasn’t gone unrewarded; ITV has confirmed she will be the fourth judge for the ninth series starting this summer – replacing Kelly Rowland. We can’t wait to see if she’ll get pitted against Tulisa in the style stakes, and how well she does with her eventual category.
