First, it was free cars for the studio audience, now it’s a trip to Australia? Oprah Winfrey intends to go out with a bang, by filming part of the final season of her chat show Down Under. She wants to fly out her entire crew and studio audience for 10 days, with John Travolta flying the plane. Bonkers! The special is expected to be filmed in Sydney’s Opera House (Oprah doesn’t do things by halves) with big name Aussie guests including Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. It begs the question: if her guests will be Australian, why couldn’t her studio audience be locals too? Surely, it makes more sense to give the local fans a chance to be a part of it, rather than forking out for air tickets and accommodation for a cackle of overexcited American housewives. This is not generosity, this is madness! Don’t think of the philanthropy, Oprah, think of the carbon footprint!
