Pants Off Turn Off
So anyone notice how music channel TMF changed to Viva recently? Unfortunately, the birth of this new channel has brought into our lives inexcusable turkeys such as Pants Off Dance Off. I had the misfortune of catching this show whilst innocently flicking channels last night. In a nutshell, painfully unattractive members of the public dance (badly) to a music video which is projected via green screen in the background. They then strip to the song, and I mean everything, until they reach the finale – which is taking their pants off. The horrible voiceover guy that thinks he’s a lot funnier than he actually is even counts down to the ‘pants down’ moment. Rather pointlessly, we then cut to the next contestant just when the ‘pants down’ happens. I say pointlessly because if you’re going to pitch yourself as a trashy, late-night piece of crap you might as well deliver the goods, you know?

So where do I start with this? The whole premise is ridiculous. It’s trying to emulate comedy along the lines of Banzai or The Word but fails. Nobody in their right mind wants to see a GRANDMOTHER stripping on television. Nobody. Ok, maybe some people do but I don’t know them. If it’s not a grandmother it’s some other exhibitionist loser that would do anything to get on TV. It seems it is compulsory to be totally bonkers to be a participant on this programme. Also, there’s nothing else to this. People dance and strip in front of the music video backdrop. That’s it. At least barmy programmes like The Word and Banzai had other features to the show. So in short, Pants Off Dance Off is awful. Just awful. Nothing else. That is it. So don’t watch it; although you probably will because curiosity gets the better of you. You know what curiosity did to the cat, right?
