Shows Now in Telly Heaven

CSI Miami axedAnother year, another batch of American TV shows get axed. This year has been particularly brutal. Long-running favourites, House, CSI: Miami, One Tree Hill, Chuck and Desperate Housewives all ran out of steam and have now ascended to telly heaven. *Sob* Some new TV shows didn’t quite gain the viewers they’d hoped for and died an embarrassingly quick death; they include Charlie’s Angels, Alcatraz, Hart of Dixie, Terra Nova, Pan Am and Ringer. Conversely, there are some surprise rebirths – with The X Factor USA surviving a shaky first series (thanks to Britney and Demi) and The Office STILL plodding on despite Steve Carell’s departure. There are some shows that are narrowly avoiding the TV Grim Reaper. I’m looking at you Cougar Town (which has had to switch channels in order to survive). A couple of US series haven’t even made it onto our screens yet but have already been granted a second life; these include Revenge (it’s gonna be big) and Apartment 23 (aka Don’t Trust That Bitch in Apartment 23) – both due on E4 in the coming weeks.
