Stephen Merchant to Star in Sitcom
HBO has commissioned The Office creator and Ricky Gervais’ right-hand man Stephen Merchant for a new pilot. The sitcom will be loosely based on Stephen’s stand-up tour called Hello Ladies. It will see the comedian looking for love in Los Angeles, the land of beautiful people. Assisting in the writing stakes will be two of The Office USA’s writers, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. We’re looking forward to seeing the gangly funnyman flying solo after being in Ricky’s shadow for far too long.
