The Mindy Project & Ben & Kate Trailers
American television is going crazy for new projects right now, and we’re loving it. We’ve already profiled two of the best upcoming dramas, now it’s time for the comedies. The Mindy Project is written by and stars Mindy Kaling of The Office. Many were unaware that Mindy was a co-writer on the long-running American comedy. She now gets bumped up to lead role on this new project, in which Mindy is a Bridget Jones-type who works as a hospital doctor. Although the series very much rides on the back of the success of New Girl, watching the trailer made me realise there may just be enough room in the TV world for two quirky single girls. This really did make me laugh:
Another comedy series coming to American broadcaster Fox is Ben & Kate. It follows dreamer Ben as he moves in with his sister Kate, to help her raise her young daughter. Cue lots of clashing of personalities as Ben struggles to deal with being a sensible older brother and Kate constantly tries to bring him back down to earth. Surprisingly, it’s not the lead actors that sold this one to me. Little Maggie Jones is brilliant as the daughter Maddie and one of our most promising comedic talents Lucy Punch (Hot Fuzz, Bad Teacher, St Trinian’s) plays Kate’s friend BJ:
