The latest phone hacking scandal has been a welcome distraction from the other story that had been dominating the headlines lately – the Global Financial Crisis. But now Sky Atlantic is putting the focus back on the banking crisis of 2008, in Too Big to Fail – an adaptation of Andrew Ross Sorkin’s best-selling book.

The HBO-produced film boasts a stellar cast of Emmy and Oscar-winning actors: William Hurt is Treasury Secretary Henry ‘Hank’ Paulson – the man who fought hard to stabilise the economy after the Wall Street crash; Cynthia Nixon plays advisor Michele Davis; James Woods is Lehman’s Brothers CEO Richard Fuld and Paul Giamatti plays the Chairman of Central Bank, Ben Bernanke.

The drama recounts the events which led to the crash and the reaction from Washington and Wall Street. It has already earned 11 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Miniseries and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries (William Hurt), so expectations are high for its debut on Sky Atlantic on September 15th.
